Organizing your closet

March 28th, 2012 by Denise Levine

Spring is officially here and it’s time to tend to your closet. Here are some of Outside In Organizer & Makeovers’ favorite tips:

  1. Take everything out and separate by clothing category: tops, bottoms, etc.
  2. Do a quick sort – discards, donates, consignments, repairs & alterations.
  3. Do a thorough cleaning – vacuum, dust; use cedar blocks, Damp Rid, etc.
  4. Invest in a set of hangers that match and use as little space as possible.
  5. Decide on your best system BEFORE items go back in the closet. Do you prefer to sort by color, outfits, clothing category, or some combination of those?
  6. Don’t forget to use supplies that make things easier to reach and see. Examples: clear shoe boxes, a collapsible step stool, adhesive hooks for belts, etc.

Have fun and enjoy the space you’ve created!
