May 9th, 2011 by Denise Levine

Gone are the days when you just drive around aimlessly.Review your errands, meetings, etc. each day. Schedule your activities near one another so that you are conserving gas. TIP: If you are getting groceries but not going directly home simply put a cooler with ice packs in the trunk of your car.

Planning to travel?

December 7th, 2010 by Denise Levine

Traveling typically goes much smoother when well planned. Think of it like a project and organize backwards from your departure date. You’ll need to have your itinerary, and depending upon your mode of transportation items like tickets, boarding passes, information about security requirements and so on. Going abroad? Check your passport expiration date well in advance and monitor currency exchange rates.
Use the internet to check the weather forecast at your destination on a regular basis the week before you depart. That way you pack items that you need for those conditions (boots, umbrella, etc.). Create lists for: (1) things that you will need to have on hand that would be difficult to access if lost such as medications and remember to fill your prescriptions in advance;
(2) things that you need to do prior to leaving, ex.: share your itinerary with family or neighbors, stop the newspaper and the mail, set up automatic bill payment online;
(3) clothing for various activities or special events. Think about creative ways to mix and match so that items can be worn repeatedly but in different combinations, or varied by accessorizing.
TIP: Bring your list(s) with you. Throughout the trip jot down things that you wished were on the list before the trip! Revise it for the next time.
